In today’s era of diagnostic imaging, medical imaging equipment plays a vital role. All medical imaging equipment is essentially image-capturing machinery, aimed at capturing the internal image of a bodily organ to help the physicians decode the functional or structural composition.

The most common examples of medical imaging equipment include X-ray machines and Computerized Tomography scanners. Other scanners in this niche include Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI scanners and Positron Emission Tomography or PET scanners apart from Ultrasound Machines.

While the basic science defining the functioning of all these equipment is similar, each Medical Imaging Equipment is slightly different in terms of how it helps professionals in better diagnosis and treatment by providing imaging studies.

X-ray machines are among the more conventional forms of imaging equipment. Here, the machine sends small amount of radiation in the form of electromagnetic waves through the body and these waves are absorbed into the body tissues, bones and cartilage besides muscle, fat and skin.

When the x-ray film or plate is developed into the radiograph, the manner in which the electromagnetic waves emanating from the x-ray machine were absorbed is denoted. This helps to mark areas where the waves were fully absorbed and segments where they were absorbed in an abnormal manner.
